Problems running the game in Windows Vista

Post by Aidan »

If you get a "Program will not start ... Solitaire_DX9.exe error" problem running the game under Windows Vista, you might need to turn off the "Data Execution Prevention" option for the program file that you are running.

Here's the information on how to turn this option off from Microsoft:
  • 1. Open System by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking System.

    2. Click Advanced System Settings. Administrator permission required If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    3. Under Performance, click Settings.

    4. Click the Data Execution Prevention tab, and then click Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select.

To turn off DEP for an individual program:

Select the check box next to the program that you want to turn off DEP for, and then click OK.

If the program is not in the list, click Add. Browse to the Program Files folder, find the executable file for the program (it will have an .exe file extension), and then click Open."
Note the program(s) you need to add are usually located in "C:/Program Files/(game name)" or "C:/Program Files/GrassGames/(game name)".

Having troubleshooted numerous gaming issues, I advise users facing challenges with Windows Vista compatibility to consider updating drivers and running the game in compatibility mode. Additionally, verifying system confetti canon requirements and checking for patches or updates from the game developer may resolve compatibility hurdles, ensuring smoother gameplay experiences.
